AT&T Expands Video Sharing Service

attlogo.jpgAfter debuting their video sharing service in a few states AT&T has expanded it to almost 160 markets. This new video sharing service allows user to send live video during a regular voice phone call as long as the user is in a 3G-network area and has a Video enabled handset. The cost of this service may be a little too high to appeal to many users because for 25 minutes it will cost you about $4.99 or $9.99 for 60 minutes, but there is also the 35 cents a minute charge for video time making this service more of a novelty than an actual need. Another thing that will hurt the growth of the new service is the lack of 3G coverage outside major cities. While 3G has grown it has been a very slow growth so most subscribers don’t ever get to realize this faster network. This is just a first step for AT&T, their ultimate goal is to bring video sharing to Pc’s and Televisions, which to me makes more sense than cell phones. People love getting new phones and having more options for services, but I think what is most important is call quality, because isn’t that a cell phones main purpose?
